SMT Goes Global

In an era when U.S.-based certifications carry increasing value abroad, it is important that vendors offering services to associations have operations serving the international community. In 2003, Schroeder Measurement Technologies, Inc. (SMT) opened offices in London and Hong Kong to better serve the needs of certification candidates in Europe and the Pacific Rim.

SMT’s location in London is right on Trafalgar Square, an area known as the Strand running along the Thames River. It is secured via multi-layered access control—one layer at the front door, a second layer on the office floor. The space is convenient to the Savoy Hotel and the famous Simpson’s Restaurant.

In Hong Kong, SMT is located in the Bank of China building, located in the Central District, which is on the north side of the island, with an expansive view of the “peak,” the highest point on the island. The Central District is the hub of the financial area of Hong Kong. SMT’s offices in London and Hong Kong primarily provide candidate services, receiving telephone calls from candidates, answering their questions, registering them for examinations, and collecting fees.

The SMT staff speak the local languages, and the offices are open during the business day in that part of the world.
Other administrative support functions include test site selection, hiring proctor staff, arranging the shipment of test booklets, and test administration resolution management.
