Once I take and pass the exam, do I need to do anything else to be registered as a pharmacy technician in Virginia?
Virginia has very specific requirements for pharmacy technician registration. Please read the requirements on the Virginia Board of Pharmacy webpage for the latest information. I've sent in my paperwork for my Virginia Pharmacy Technician license but I haven't received anything. What do I need to do?
The requirements that must be fulfilled for Virginia are outlined at the Virginia Board of Pharmacy website. If you have completed the forms correctly, please contact the Virginia Board of Pharmacy to obtain an update on the status of your application.

What can I do to prepare for the exam?
The best way to prepare is to thoroughly review the information in the Study Guide.

Do you have a practice exam online that I can take before taking the exam?
There is currently no Virginia Pharmacy Technician-specific practice test; however, you can take a sample exam to become familiar with the computer testing interface.

What are the testing conditions like?
All testing centers follow strict requirements ensuring that all are quiet, well-lit, have comfortable seating, adequate spacing between testing stations, and up-to-date computer hardware and good internet speed. The sites are accessible and they are run by trained, qualified proctor staff.

Do I get to use my calculator and scratch paper or will these be provided?
The computer-based testing system includes a pop-up calulator and scratch paper will be provided. For security purposes, you are not allowed to bring anything into the Test Center.

When do I get my test results?
You will receive your test results immediately upon completion of the exam. Please keep this score report as it is the only copy of your scores that you will receive.

Can I appeal a failing score on the Virginia Pharmacy Technician Exam?
Exam scores are calculated automatically by computer, and exam keys (correct responses) are validated before the exam is deployed to our Test Centers, so scoring errors are extremely unlikely. Nevertheless, you have the right to request that your exam be rescored for a fee of $25. Click here to access the Exam Appeal Form.

How much does the exam cost?
$75.50, which can be paid with a credit card when you register for a test site and location.

How many times can I take the exam if I do not pass the first time?
You must wait two weeks before taking the exam a subsequent time. You may take the exam as many times as needed. A fee is required for each exam session.

How long is the exam, and how much time do I have to complete it?
The exam is made up of 60 four-option multiple choice questions, that must be completed within 1 hour.
